STANLEY SKUBE Obituary

STANLEY D. SKUBE November 16, 1937 - November 22, 2013 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Stan at age 76. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Helen, daughters Susan (Stephen Hayes) and Kathryn, and grandchildren Madeline and Ryan Hayes. He bravely fought a battle with brain tumours for 18 months and passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House in Oakville surrounded by his devoted family. Stan will be fondly remembered by brother Ladd (Marilyn) of Peterborough and their children Mike (Laureen Grieve) and Lori (Garth Scully), and by sister Anne (Roy Cameron) of Kanata and their children David (Jeanine Demmler) and Dawn (Gary Hermer). Also remembered affectionately by his nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. Stan, born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was an electrical engineer and had a 30-year career with Square D Canada, retiring 23 years ago as Vice President. He treasured his family and enjoyed travel and life at the cottage. He loved woodworking, building grandfather clocks and any new experiences that life had to offer. Stan touched the lives of many. He was kind and generous, had great determination with boundless energy, a sense of humour and a warm smile. He was an amazing person with endless talent. No challenge was too great and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. We are thankful for the attention and care that Stan received from Dr. Perry and Dr. Soliman at Sunnybrook and Dr. MacDonald at St Michael's. Sincere thanks for the support and care from Dr. Pyper, CCAC, Dr. Benjamin and the staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House. In keeping with Stan's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Ian Anderson House (430 Winston Churchill Blvd., Oakville, ON, www.ianandersonhouse.com, 905-337-8004), the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (www.braintumour.ca, 1-800-265-5106) or a charity of your choice.
