Stephen BOURNE Obituary

BOURNE, Stephen James October 31, 1955 - August 23, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Bourne. He leaves behind his loving wife and daughters, Conny, Kirstin (husband Aaron) and Thea. Also his sister Cynthia, brother Michael (wife Susan) and many nieces and nephews. Stephen loved his family above all else and we are grateful to be left with many happy stories and much laughter over the memories we share. We will all miss his generous nature and great sense of humour. Through his work in the film industry he made many lifelong friends and had many unique adventures, travelling to all seven continents over his career. He will be missed greatly. Visitation will be held at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home (1939 Lawrence Ave. E.) on Thursday, August 30th from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.

It has been decades since I had the privilege of meeting Stephen but don't ask me for the exact year. Over the years we worked together on many Sim projects. He was a guy who always had a smile hidden under that handlebar evan after a 16 hour day. His soft voice and gentle demeanor did not mean that you could mess with him on a film set. He could bark!

My first show as a camera trainee was with Stephen last year. I will remember a smile ever present under a big moustache. He was happy to take time to explain aspects of his job to me, and was always there with a Hello in the morning and a Good Night at the end of the day. I knew him for a short time but it was clear that this was the kind of man others aspire to be: gentle, smiling, and admired by those around him
