Dear Glen:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I always admired Steve on so many levels. I often think of him and all the laughs we shared. I think of how we worked side by side, each keeping an eye out for the other. I could count on Steve and he could count on me. I remember once that I introduced him as "my boss" and he was shocked. In his mind we were colleagues. He was the senior, but in his mind, that was just on paper. In his mind, we were equal.

He blessed me with so many happy memories and he honoured me with his trust. He will always live with me, and I'm sure with many others. What a wonderful, likable, dependable man he was and how fortunate you were to have spent so many years with him.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences, late though they may be (I just found out today from Carl). And know that you do not mourn him alone. You, I, and everyone who knew him will hold his memory dear in our hearts and we'll be oh so grateful that he shared his humour, his wisdom and his compassion with us.

Dear Glen,
So much time has passed since we all parted ways at NYH and yet, in a moment such as this, it seems like yesterday. I have often thought of days passed with fond memories. I was happy to hear that you and Steve were still enjoying your retirement, however, I was saddened to hear of his sudden passing. May good memories give you comfort and your friends keep you company during these trying days ahead.

With love Mary
