Thomas McCarroll Obituary

THOMAS McCARROLL (Born Airdrie, Scotland March 15, 1935) Passed away at his home in Oshawa Thursday, March 10 surrounded by his loving wife Sadie and his family. His life was an example of courage and dignity for those who knew him. Born with Spina Bifida, Tom entered the world with almost unbearable pain. Little was expected of him. No one could have anticipated his strength. He overcame that pain and learned to run and play in the schoolyard. He marched through the pain with the British Army in post World War II Germany. Danced his way into the heart of the love of his life in Coatbridge. Pain would not keep him from finding joy in marriage, raising his children, bringing his family to Canada. In recent years he faced more pain when diagnosed with Prostate cancer. When he left us this week, it was not because he had lost his battle against a terrible disease, it was because he had finally won his battle against pain. He died as he lived, a hero and an inspiration. We will miss your wicked sense of humour Sugar! He is survived by his loving wife Sarah McCarroll, his children, Marian (Stan Gomboc), Ann (Al Budgel), Bill (Sylvie Lapointe), Sandy (Pete Stiel) and John (deceased Heather Luckman), his 10 grandchildren and his 11 great-grandchildren and his sister May. Tom requested that there be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear Bill & All the McCarroll Family,
Sincerest sympathy in the loss of your dearlly beloved Thomas a husband, father, father-in-law & grandfather,
He will be missed but never forgotten. He is in a better place no more tears, pain or suffering. He suffered trials and tribulatons throughout his life but successfully accomplished so much.
