TOMOKO YOSHIDA

YOSHIDA, TOMOKO (nee GOTO) December 9, 1928 - October 4, 2022 Sadly, we announce the peaceful passing of Tomoko Yoshida, in her 94th year, at Sunnybrook Hospital. She joins her beloved husband, Jake Yoshida (2001). Survived by her sister, Yaeki Frances Nakamura; and sister-in-law, Masako Yoshida; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings, Naoe (1987), Teruji (2020), Sakae (April 2022), and Masaye (1983); and in-laws, Shigeru Nakamura, Kay Goto, Chips Ogaki, Hugh Pickard, Hideo Yoshida, Tak Yoshida, Margaret Homma (Shingo), Barin Yoshida (Sue), Jane Tsuruoka (Mas). Born in Strawberry Hill, BC, interned at Slocan during the war, then east to Chatham, and finally, Toronto in 1947. Tomo owned a hair salon on Coxwell Avenue for many years. She had many interests including knitting, painting, playing cards, going to the casino, and reading. A funeral service will be held at the Toronto Buddhist Church on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or koden, please consider a donation to the Toronto Buddhist Church, Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, Momiji, or a Charity of Your Choice.
