TONY LONGO Obituary
TONY LONGO Born in Toronto on June 8, 1933, was the son of Olga and Gus. He passed away in his 81st year at Bridgepoint Hospital surrounded and supported by his close family members. His family and friends were his greatest passion. He leaves behind his three beloved sons Todd, Troy and Tony, his daughter Shirley, sister Mary and four cherished grandchildren Dillon, Robert, Marcus and Olivia, as well as many life-long friends. A man of great wit and humour, he was able to take life as it came. He spoke plainly and with truth and honesty. Anyone who met him would walk away with an entertaining story and a brighter day. If you had the pleasure of knowing him longer, he left you with an impression of wisdom, compassion and common sense only gained when you have lived the life he had lived. From humble beginnings at Ossington and Dundas, hauling fruits and vegetables for the family business "Gus Longo and Son" to watching his sons, daughter and grandchildren grow, prosper and love; he did it with such charm, humour and always a little bit of cheek! His personality was his most valuable asset. We will all miss him dearly. He was truly a special man. As he would have said upon meeting you, "YOU LOOK LIKE A MOVIE STAR", he was our star. A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at both Bridgepoint and Toronto Western Hospitals for the exceptional care and friendship that he received and Dr. Bernard Gosevitz for helping him navigate the journey. Family and friends will be received at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst St. (north of Dundas), on Friday, December 12th from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tony's honour to the Bridgepoint Health Foundation.
