TREVOR ROBINSON Obituary
August 1, 1937 - December 1, 2016
Trevor was born in the small town of Kellits, Jamaica to Reginald and Louise Robinson. He earned a scholarship to the prestigious boarding school, Munro College, to which he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2016 for his contribution to echocardiography. While studying in Buffalo, New York, Trevor met the love of his life, Ranga, who had travelled halfway across the globe from Madras, India. In 1966, Trevor and Ranga were married and in 1973, Trevor joined the cardiology staff at St. Michael's Hospital. In 2008, Dr. Robinson received the lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Robinson, known as "TR", devoted countless hours to the treatment of his thousands of patients until his retirement in December 2015. For over 50 years, Trevor and Ranga remained inseparable. Trevor was most proud of his two children, Lisa (John Aquino) and Rohan (Sylvie) and his three grandchildren, David, Laurel and Kate. They sorely miss their Appa but know that he will always be watching over them. Trevor also leaves behind a brother, Barry, and two sisters, Hope and Joy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Toronto General Hospital for providing Trevor with such phenomenal and compassionate care to the very end. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6th. A funeral service will be held in METROPOLITAN UNITED CHURCH, 56 Queen Street East, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7th. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Both myself and my mother have worked with Dr. Robinson for years at St. Michael's. He was always kind, soft spoken and really cared for his patients. You will be greatly missed.

I worked with Dr. Robinson for years , mostly when he came to ICU to do an echo on one of our patients there. He was always gentle and kind to the patients and very respectful. We loved seeing him and everyone respected him as a cardiologist and as a good person. He will be missed .

Humble,Friendly and Knowledgeable, I work in the lab in the early 70's.Back then the hospital was not that big,limited elevators,so you see most staff walking the hallways. Dr, Robinson ( I refer to him as Dr, Trevor),with a black-rimmed glasses.He smiles and say hi to everyone he comes across in the hall, from housekeeping to the nuns, (back then).I didn't even know he's an specialist till I asked my Boss.Then I always remembered this nice human being. He'll be missed but
he's in a better place.

On behalf of the Nuclear Medicine Department, I offer our heartfelt condolences to Ranga and the family. Rohan's eulogy at the funeral was a beautiful glimpse into the incredible life that Trevor lived, and the light that he brought into this world. Trevor was a wonderful physician, colleague and friend to us here, and he will be deeply missed.

My first day of work in the HHU and Dr. Robinson was the first one to say "Good morning, and how are you today?" He knew I was nervous, but somehow he made me feel at ease. We truly lost a great soul. My condolences to the Robinson family.

Ranga and family
We have lost a dear father, husband and colleague. Trevor was far more than a coworker at St. Michael's Hospital; he was family. He will be missed greatly.
We are very sorry we can not make it to his funeral. We will never forget him.

I feel so fortunate to have had a chance to see Trevor at St. Mike's over the years and enjoy the warmth of his friendly smile. I met him first in 1968. I was a student nurse and he was the E.R. intern who stitched up my thumb. Later on we had some occasions to work together and he was consistently amicable and gentlemanly. I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of this fine gentleman and offer my sympathy to his family.

Very sad to have heard of the passing of Dr. Robinson, last week...
