VERNA HAMMOND

HAMMOND, VERNA Verna Hammond passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Humber River Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 94 years. She was born in Dauphin, Manitoba. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Winnipeg Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Responding to the call of God, she entered the College for Officer Training and was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1956. Following her marriage to Wilfred, she served faithfully during their appointments across Canada and well into retirement. Verna was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was predeceased by her son, Derek, and is survived by her husband, Wilfred; her daughters, Tricia, Connie and Beverley; her sister, Selma; and brother, Orville. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind.
