Verna Estella RITCHIE

VERNA ESTELLA RITCHIE (nee JOHNSON) October 23, 1917 - July 19, 2013 Peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 95. Verna was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of Canada and the Toronto District School Board. She will forever be remembered for her dedicated service with the Red Cross Corps during World War II. Many soldiers benefited from her kind and caring nature. Verna was predeceased by her husband Herbert and sisters Dorothy Anderson, Muriel Gould and Ila MCGarrie. She is survived by her brother William Johnson and will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Verna was a very special aunt to Carol (Carl) Boettcher and Gaye (Terry) Burnett. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling Aves.), on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to St. James United Church, Etobicoke.
