VINCENT ANTHONY BAGNATO With his family at his side and in his heart, Vincent passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008, peacefully at home. Survived by his beloved wife Sharon who cared for him and loved him from the day they met. A shining star to his children James, Joe (Angela Bitonti), Sherry (Charles Cira), Vincent (Yuko Kawashima), Lee (Betty Leney) and Ron (Anne Powers). Loving Papa and Nono to Michael, Mathew, Jonathan, Kailee, Liam, Paige, Kaitlin, Tak and Anne. Dear brother to Helen Haynes (the late Ron), Grace Frankie (the late John) and Paul (Carole). Predeceased by brothers Bill (Madelaine), Victor (Renee), Charles (Rose), Joe (Mary), George (Dolly), and sisters Mildred (Tony), Ruby and Louise (Theo). Brother-in-law to Arthur Biffis and Richard and Carole Stonhill. Uncle Vince will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephew and cousins. Vince has held numerous professional positions in the sport of boxing including President of the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame and Canadian Professional Boxing Council; Director of Public Relations, Ontario Amateur Boxing Association; President, International Boxing Hall of Fame; Colour Commentator Wide World of Sports' In Search of a Championship series; Global TV's The Fights and CITY TV's Fight Night. He also produced the first reality TV fight card in the 1970's ''So You Think You're Tough''. For the past 23 years Vince has been Matchmaker for the Shaw Festival's premier boxing event, the Gentlemen's Boxing Evening. Vince leaves behind countless friends and associates in the field of boxing. As well, he was founding director of Downsview Legal Aid, author, lyricist and ran many marathons and half marathons into his '70's. To the many doctors and nurses, to his associates at the Shaw Festival and his close friends who called regularly to check on him, thank-you. Visitation will take place at the Glen Oaks Reception Centre, 3164 9th Line, (at Dundas), Oakville, 905-257-8822, on Tuesday from 1-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St. Matthews Parish, 1150 Monk's Passage, Oakville on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial to take place at the Glen Oak Memorial Gardens.
