VLASTA BRANKOVSKY Obituary

VLASTA BRANKOVSKY Peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2014 in her 94th year. She lost her husband in 1969 and in 1970 joined her son and daughter in Canada. She loved tennis and for 40 years had her own tennis school in Toronto, where many tennis players honed their skills. She will be missed by son Rosti with Martina and daughter Barbora with Henry and her grandchildren Jennefer with Birger and Alex with Lauren and Barbori and great-grandson Hendryk and by many in the Czech and tennis communities.

Thank you, Vlasta, for doing alterations on Carollynne's wedding dress just after you came to Canada. Your magic worked - we are still married. And thank you for teaching Kyle the basics of tennis. And thank you for being a great friend of dad's.

I will always remember Vlasta as passionate and very opinionated about the technical side of tennis. She was significant in improving my game, and I have fond memories of Swiss Chalet lunches with Vlasta and Nicole, and listening to her many stories and experiences. Vlasta was an exceptional woman with great courage, a wonderful sense of humour, and unfaltering determination. She is certainly a legend.
