Walter was my earliest friend in grade school, Chippewa, Pioneer, one room school house connected to Bell, Mount Hope, and Southmount Secondary. It was grade 7 or 8 I rode my bike all the way from 20 road to White Church where Walter, Wayne and their parents had a farm. I spent the day with them. Walter had a nickle collection and gave me a spare victory nickle which my collection lacked (still have it). I remember in the kitchen was an old wood burning stove, the kind my grandparents would have used...... when It was time for me to go home Mr Scott gave me a banty chick in a shoe box .... I wanted a pet. Road my bike all the way home only to find my mom would load us in the car and return it .... In high school latin class I borrow his notes, which ai was accustomed to doing before exams, but usually from the cutest girl I could find ..... sadly nothing was gonna get me through Latin even with the notes from the smartest kid in the room. My condolences to his family. He was a good man

Walter was a great friend and neighbour for 27 years. He was the kindest most genuine person I have ever met. He will greatly missed but will always be remembered!

Had the pleasure and pain of many workplace chats with Walter about the Maple Leafs. He was a kind, thoughtful, and humble man of integrity. I liked him a great deal and am gut-shot to learn of his passing. My deepest condolences to his friends and loved ones. He'll be remembered fondly.
