After a short hospital stay, peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Scarborough General Hospital in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Bernice. Loving father of Ron and Ken. Cherished grandfather of Sandra and Greg. Family and friends may gather at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough, ON (one block west of Kingston Rd.,) on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 12 noon. Funeral Service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home on at 1:00 p.m.Condolences may be made online at

I was honored to meet and enjoy Walter's company on Sonneq at his neighbour's home next door on a number of occasions recently!
Walter often regailed us with his vast knowledge, his war experience and pilot exploits!
He was wonderful company, a great neighbour and stalwart on Sonneq!
He will be missed!
Sincere condolences to all his immediate family and extended community!

Ron and Ken, I am so sorry for your loss, our loss. Your Dad always called me Freckles and I called him Whiskers. He loved to scratch my cheek with his stubble. I will be thinking of you on Saturday. I will be there in spirit if not in person. Love, Your Cousin Evelyn.

Uncle Wally.....so many memories over the years. Port Dover, always May 24 holiday with fireworks, Santa's village, Going by train to Orillia for the day, skating in your back yard, skiing. Oh my gosh the list goes on and on. I will miss you so much. I'm sad we didn't get our last visit in.
