WILLIAM COOK Obituary

COOK, WILLIAM It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of William Cook, lovingly known as Bill, on September 5, 2019, after a brave battle against cancer. On Bill's 83rd birthday last weekend, we reflected on the wonderful person who joined us from his childhood home in the small northern Ontario community of Red Lake. Bill is remembered as a quiet man with quick wit. He took an optimistic approach to the world. As an accomplished educator and leader within TDSB, Bill shared his knowledge of Geography. As an avid sailor and proud life member of the National Yacht Club, Bill served the NYC in a number of roles. As a hobbyist photographer, Bill loved to capture his companions and nature within his lens. Bill was the loving spouse of Pat Delgaty and father of Gordon Delgaty-Cook. Our husband, father and friend will be missed as we continue to hold him in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made in Bill's name to two of Bill's favourite charities: Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre and Toronto Foundation for Student Success; or to a charity of your choice.

I'm so sad to learn of Bill's sudden passing. He was such an uplifting inspiration with his love for life and all that it offered. His positive outlook brought out the best in the lives he touched. I feel so honored to have had Bill and cousin Pat stay with me in Manitoba a few years ago, and to have enjoyed dinner with them at the wharf in Ontario. My deepest condolences to Pat and Gordon.

I have very fond memories of Bill, Pat and Gordon spending Christmas dinners with their Vancouver family at our home in North Delta, BC. Jessica and I enjoyed a beautiful Toronto visit with Bill and Pat at their boat. I will be forever grateful to Bill who chose a beautiful dragonfly bracelet for me in memory of our precious son from the Red Lake Museum Gift Shoppe. To Pat and Gordon, please accept my heartfelt condolences in the sudden loss of Bill. Bill will be missed. ❤

My deepest condolences on your loss. Bill and I were grade school friends in Red Lake and met again in Red Lake at a reunion a few years ago and became facebook friends. I will miss his posts on Red Lake and of his beloved dog. Rest in Peace, Bill.

Bill helped me so much as I did genealogy research for my grandmother. My Dad and Bill were first cousins, growing up in Owen Sound together. RIP Bill

If this is the same Mr. William Cook who taught at Gladstone Public School/Alexander Muir Public School, I do remember him and indeed have often thought of him. He was an incredible teacher for me to remember him 50 years after being at that school. The years have flown by.

My condolences to the family and friends and may he rest in peace.
