Les and I are both the same age and both started our teaching at Parkdale Collegiate, so many fond memories. A wonderful friend during those beginning years.

I am grateful for my years teaching at Parkdale while Les was the V.P. A caring gentleman who listened to the students and teachers and always found a way to help. A true educator. I am sorry I was not able to get to the Kortright Centre. What a wonderful venue for the gathering of Les' s friends, colleges, students and family. My sympathy to his family.

Mr Wright was a math teacher of mine when I was student at Bloor Collegiate in the 1960's.
I retain many memories of this gentleman as a no nonsense and dedicated professional who, when you spoke to him, made you feel that you were someone.

I also remember that, as an administrator at Malvern Collegiate, he smoothed over many
"differences of opinion" between myself and some of my students to the benefit of both of us.

I'd like to offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Les was a true "gentle man". Always calm, always willing to listen. A true mentor to students and staff alike.

Les was a wonderful Vice-Principal and Acting Principal at Malvern. When our Principal died suddenly, it gave us great comfort to have Les taking over and keeping everything on an even keel. He was a warm, caring, and supportive leader and friend. My sincere sympathy to the family.

I had the good fortune of working with Les at Parkdale C.I. A kind, considerate and caring individual yet always objective at the same time. He recognized the contributions that all staff members made to the success of the students and the school as a whole.

Sincere sympathy to the family.

I had the honour of meeting and working with Les at Monarch Park. We spent a great deal of time together working in both the day school and continuing education programmes. I was so impressed by his knowledge, dedication and compassion. Thankfully too our friendship continued on long after our retirements.
During one of his trips back to Ireland, Les took the time to locate and take pictures of the home in which my mother grew up before coming to Canada, the appreciation of which goes so far beyond what my words were ever able to express.
That's just the kind of wonderful, caring person that he was; always going out of his way; never too busy!
I feel truly blessed to have known and befriended such a wonderful man. I will miss him greatly and truly share in your sorrow.

To Les' family,
On behalf of myself and some far-away colleagues who worked with Les in his Monarch years, I want to say how much we all valued his dedication, his mentoring and his sense of humour. Many of us were also lucky to count Les as a friend even into our retirement years.
I recall the absolute joy with which he spoke about his family and how very much he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.
Please know that many of us, now far and near, take part in your sorrow.

Dear Family We were heartbroken to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a wonderful co-worker, a patient mentor, our beloved best man at our wedding.
But most of all our Dearest Friend. We could laugh together, cry together, cook, love music and Irish coffee. Or just enjoy the silence. Our grief in no way compares to yours but please know your Dad was loved.
If you contact us @ [email protected] or 905-579-1543
We would love to send some photos and memories to you.

Dear Mr. Wright,
I have no idea how to begin to thank you for all the kindness you showed me as a student at Malvern Collegiate. You helped me through many a difficult time, and I will always be grateful to you. I remember you warmly as a fair, honest, kind and compassionate man, who somehow managed to know the names of all the students and was always at the ready to help each one of us out. You made a positive difference in so many lives, my own included. You will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Thank you Mr. Wright, rest peacefully.

I had the good fortune to be a teacher at Parkdale C.I. when Les was vice principal. He was one of the 'good guys'. Admired, trusted, loved and respected by all.

Les and I had many discussions about firewood, the weather, and the uncertainties of the maple syrup season here at Kortright. I have always admired, and hope to emulate in some way, his 'woodman's' ethic and vitality. He kept a sharp axe. He will always be remembered for his work here at Kortright.

As I began my career at Parkdale, Les was my mentor and friend. Not only did we learn about field hockey from Les, he taught us values. He displayed devotion to his family, hard work to his colleagues and respect to the environment. He will forever be in my thoughts, as it was he who helped shape who I am today.
My heartfelt condolences to the family.
