It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) John Bowman on December 18, 2022 at the age of 76 in Dauphin, MB.
Bill was born in Dauphin MB on April 20, 1946 along with his twin sister Cheryl, the second set of twins born to his parents Geraldine (Gerry) & Jack Bowman. Bill grew up in Winnipegosis attending, or sometimes not attending school, as he'd often say, he'd go in the front door and skip out the back, as long as he didn't get caught and get the leather strap! He attended school until grade 6 when he decided he had enough after a few repeat years in several grades. Despite his minimal education his strong work ethic led him to excel during his working years.
Bill met Ann in 1967, after a short courtship they were engaged and married in May of 1968 in Churchill, MB. Their honeymoon and the next 47 years were spent building their life in Thompson. Bill worked at Midwest, Campbell North and then Department of Highways until his retirement in 2005. He loved operating and running the Asphalt plant that ran from May to October. He would bank all of his overtime to allow him to have entire winters off. Although he had the winter off from Highways, he would spend it driving truck for various companies. Once retired he was then full time working for Sapach Trucking driving truck which he loved so much. He loved the winter road driving and had many tales to tell of his experiences. He was a hard worker in everything he set his mind to.
Bill was so proud of his grandchildren Jordan & Emily, and would take the opportunity to let anyone know of their accomplishments personally and in their careers. He wore his emotions on his sleeve and it was evident when he spoke of them.
Bill is survived by his wife Ann, daughter Sheri Ryan, grandchildren Jordan & Emily. He is also survived by sister Diane Farrell, nieces Kim, Stacey (Ron) & Shelley, nephew Ken (Angie), sister-in-law Lucille Kostyk, brother-in-law George (Adele) Burelle. He will be missed by his dog Lady, who was his loving companion.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Geraldine & Jack Bowman, mother-in-law Marguerite Burelle, brother Jim (Pat), sisters Barbara (Nick) Weselowski, Cheryl (Paul) Harasym brothers-in-law Nick Kostyk, John Burelle and Jim Farrell. And his best friend and son in law Kevin Ryan.We would like to thank the staff at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, especially to the nurses and health care aids who cared for Bill in the Emergency department and the Medicine floor. As well as Dr. Mathison and Angel at the Dauphin Medical Clinic.
