Agnes WALMSLEY Obituary

Nan Walmsley passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She lived 97 fulfilling years. She leaves behind her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was well respected and admired for her many years working for Children and Family Services. She believed in giving back to her community, and after retirement she dedicated 25 years to Oak Bay Volunteers, even learning computer skills that were foreign to her. She was passionate about the arts, travel, gardening and family. Her quest for knowledge never ceased. She enrolled in numerous classes through UVIC right up to the age of 96, exploring more extensively her many areas of interest. She always had an open door policy and an extra plate was easily set at the table for a steaming bowl of her renowned soups or a "cuppa" tea. She was an inspiration to many. She was home to us. Mark, Jennifer, Gillian and Valerie. An open house celebration of life will be held at her home, 2039 Milton St. Victoria, on Sunday, October 21st, from 1:00 to 5:00.

Mark,Jen Gill and Val:
Our thoughts are with you.
Nan leaves such a hole. She was a remarkable woman whom I adored.
I have the fondest memory of her inviting me to stay for the Thanksgiving weekend in 1973 when I was a new foreign student at UBC. I knew no one and Gill said you must come to Victoria with me and have Thanksgiving with my family. What a great gift and I am still reaping the joy.
