I knew Alan thru work at BC Environment.. He worked in communication and I worked in air quality and climate change, which were emerging issues in the early 90s. Unlike most of our experiences with communications staff, my colleagues and I found Alan straightforward and helpful. We formed a successful partnership to get our messages out. A real gentleman.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Alan's passing. We worked together at the Ministry of Environment back in the '90s, and I would bump into him every now and then after that. Alan was ALWAYS upbeat, kind, funny, smart and committed. He was a joy to be with, and I feel lucky to have known him. My sincere condolences to Susan and family. ~ Andrea

Alan shared a tiny apartment with me, my boyfriend, and 2 dogs while he was at University of Waterloo doing his thesis on eels. I have fond memories of Alan singing and playing guitar with friends.
My heart goes out to you as you grieve the loss of a truly remarkable husband, father, and grand-father.

I am saddened by Alan's passing. I knew Alan when he led the Values-Based Business Network, in Victoria. I fondly remember his passion for the cause, his thoughtful presence, and wry sense of humour. He was a people connector.
