ALBERT HAWKINS Obituary

A WONDERFUL MAN HAS DEPARTED THIS WORLD

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bert. He passed peacefully at the James Bay Care Facility, where he spent his last 8 months, on the morning of February 3.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, son Ted, daughter Betty-Ann, two brothers George and Douglas, stepson Bruce, Cindy and Angus, stepson Brian and Brooke and the many others of his loving family.

He was a kind, considerate, compassionate man until his final day and will be remembered so very fondly by all those whom he came in contact with over his many years as a Lieutenant and chef in the Royal Canadian Navy (1937 - 1965), his years in the hospitality field here in Victoria and other locations and in his long and fruitful retirement with his devoted wife Mary.

At his request, there will be no service and his remains will be scattered to the waiting sea.

Mary, so sorry to hear of your loss. Bert was a kind, fun, hugely competent man. I can only think of him smiling, no doubt because he was married to you.

Bert and my Dad, Bob Bystedt, were roommates for a short time at James Bay. They enjoyed sharing time and conversations together. We'll miss you, Bert. Rest in peace.
