Albert Hawkins Obituary

HAWKINS, Albert Sidney George
November 26, 1939 - February 25, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Albert Sidney George Hawkins announces his passing on February 25, 2026, in Parksville, at the age of 86, due to complications of Multiple Sclerosis.
Al joined the Victoria Fire Department at just 23 years of age and dedicated 30 years of service. He rose to the rank of Captain before having to retire due a diagnosis of MS. He took great pride in his career and the friendships he formed within the department.
Al was predeceased by his parents Rose and Bill and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Katharine; his daughter, Janice (Craig); his son Douglas; his stepdaughters, Kim (Tad) and Heather; his grandsons, Riley (Cali) and Jake; his step-grandchildren, Kaylee, Ellie, Madison, Lucas, and Eva; and his big sister, Rose (Trevor), and extended family.
Al had a lifelong passion for model trains and took care in tending his beautiful yard and garden. He was known for his remarkable ability to renovate, build, repair, and fix just about anything. He was a steady, capable, and dependable presence in the lives of those who loved him.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Stanford Seniors Village for their compassionate care and kindness over the past three years.
Al will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Al.

Thinking of all of Al's family. I have very fond memories of our children growing up together on Woodpark/Cedarcrest. So much time has passed, but I still treasure the fun we had. Take good care and take time to grieve the loss of a wonderful man. God bless. Elizabeth
