Alice Holland Obituary

HOLLAND, Alice Maria (nee Fraboni) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Sister, Auntie, Nana, Nana G and Friend on April 3, 2021. Alice was predeceased by her husband Herbie (1978) and her daughter Roberta (2005), her brother Raffaele and her sisters Maggie and Jeannie. Survived by her sister Birdie and brother Art; daughters Brenda and Sharon, son Wayne and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice was the matriarch of the Fraboni Clan and kept us all in line with her love, understanding and her great skill of organizing. To this day the Fraboni Family still all gather at her beloved Tillicum for a camping weekend every May long weekend. It has been 40plus years now and has been passed down to the next generations to carry on our great family tradition. Alice worked for the Victoria School Board for many years and it was with great pride that Alice was the first female Custodian at James Bay Community School. One of her jobs there was to "punch" the boilers every year and Alice took that in her stride. Alice was a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and for many years took on the daunting task of the ritual work. It was also here that Alice made many life long friendships and could often be heard banging around in the kitchen with her "Maties" preparing the many special occasion dinners. Mom will be missed and that is quite an understatement. Alice was loved by many and we were very lucky for her humor and all her pearls of wisdom. Mom's spirit is free and we will all miss her greatly. Alice will be interned with her mother at Royal Oak cemetary. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Alice's life at a later date.

I'm somewhat devastated to discover Alice's obit. She was a friend, colleague and ally when I was the founder and first principal of James Bay Community School. She and my secretary, Jean Fields remained loyal to me long after my first marriage failed and I left the school.

I had another connection with the Holland family. I had been the crew chief for Al Smith at Western Speedway and Herbie Holland (Alice's husband) ran the back gate where we purchased our pit passes every Saturday night... Alice knew all the guys who raced and lived near her.... She was a mother personified.... They broke the mold when she was born. There will never be another like her! Dave Allan

I worked with Alice for many years while working with the maintenance department at Victoria School District. It was always fun to work at James Bay Community School with Alice. You were always met with a big smile and updated on all the needs of her school! I know her easy going nature was appreciated by students , teachers and maintenance staff. My condolences to Alice's family.

My condolences to Alice's family. I worked on the community end of the James Bay Community School and Alice as the head custodian. She was kind to the students, teachers and participants. Keep a tight ship for janitorial duties in a well used and more than just a typical school day use.
