Alice Vesprini Obituary
VESPRINI, Alice Jean (nee Grunda)
Alice Jean Vesprini, born November 3, 1933, died peacefully on September 22, 2025. Predeceased by her husband Albert, son Dennis, mother Veronica Grunda (Molnar), father Andrew, brother Butch, brothers-in-law Carlo, Giuliano and Fred and sister-in-law Aniela.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter Joanne (Andrew Maxwell), granddaughter Ashley (Mike Hamulecki) and great-grandsons Adam and Zach, granddaughter Amy, step-grandchildren Olivia, Duncan (Katie) and Gavin, brother John, sister Judy, sisters-in-law Jean and Cathy and daughter-in-law Diana. Along with nieces and nephews Juliana, Michele, Carla, Louis, Alan, Cyndi, Andrew, Dave, Cathy, Bob and Kim and many great nieces and nephews, cousin Pina in Italy and relatives in Michigan.
Alice was gracious, kind and grateful no matter the challenges or losses she faced. She was organized, thoughtful and curious about people. She could stand in the grocery store line and learn the life story of the person ahead of her. As a teenager she worked at the Hamilton Cotton Mill and then once both kids were in high school she worked at Woolco and Walmart. She made the best meatballs outside of Italy and everyone loved her coffee cake and banana muffins. Alice loved her ladies card club that really was about talking and very little card playing. Some of her favourite times were spent at Sauble Beach with the gang or in the basement with friends eating and singing opera.
Alice was born, raised and spent most of her life in Hamilton. She spent the last eleven years in Victoria with Joanne and Andrew where she welcomed their friends and family as hers. I thought I knew all of mom's strengths but in the last two weeks we saw her true strength and selflessness. After receiving a terrible diagnosis she said "Well I've lived a good, long life". She was one amazing woman. We are all blessed to have been touched by her love.
Joanne, Andrew and Ashley would like to thank all the incredibly caring and thoughtful nurses, doctors, and care aides at The Victoria Hospice who made mom's last ten days end with dignity and grace.
A private family service will be held in Hamilton at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to The Victoria Hospice or Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
