CASSIDY, Allan Roy On the afternoon of Sunday, July 10th, surrounded by many of his loved ones, Allan passed away. A loving husband, father and mentor, Allan will be missed. Born in Ottawa on May 6th 1952 to Orville and Alice Cassidy (nee Hovey), Allan was brother to Ray (Berol), Garry (Cathy), and Ed (Deanna). While earning his Bachelor of Architecture from Carleton University, Allan met his wife Penny (nee Reed) who he married on July 9th 1976. Allan was lovingly welcomed as son-in-law by Ken and Dorsey Reed. In 1979 Allan and Penny moved to Calgary where their first son Reed William (Aneesa) was born in 1982. In 1983 Allan and Penny moved to Oak Bay. In 1984 their second son Brendan Allan (Taya) was born, followed by their daughter Deirdre Dolores (Daniel) in 1987. In 1986 Allan became a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and in 1987 he started his own practice. He was well known for his work ethic and his tireless dedication to his practice. Through his devotion of time and expertise, Allan touched the lives of many people in the community both during his years as an Oak Bay Councillor and as a Leader with the 12th Garry Oak Sea Scouts. "Scouter Allan " will be fondly remembered by many Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts. The Cassidy family would like to thank the many people who provided care and support during his two years with cancer, in particular Dr. Nero, Dr. Martins, Dr. Battershill, Dr. Saiger, Marita Poll, and the caring staff at the Victoria Hospice Society. A celebration of Allan's life will be held on Saturday, July 23rd from 2-5 PM in the lounge of the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the BC Cancer Agency or Victoria Hospice. 631707
