Allan SCOTT Obituary

SCOTT, Lt. Colonel and Honorary Colonel Allan Douglas April 22, 1938 - December 2, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a much loved and respected man and dad. Succumbing to cancer on December 2nd, 2014 at Victoria, BC Hospice. Born in Camper, Manitoba, on April 22nd, 1938 to father George and mother Anna. Allan came from a large family and will rest beside his predeceased brother Arnold. Survived by spouse Adriana Gonzalez Pons and family, daughter Jacqueline, and many friends and extended family. Allan's love was the Military, Mexico and a good bottle of wine. From 1955 to present Allan dedicated his life to the Military and the Medical Corps, climbing through the ranks to retire as a Lt. Colonel and then to become Honorary Colonel of the 11th Field Ambulance. He achieved numerous awards and acknowledgements and a man of greater integrity will never be found. Allan loved Mexico and in his last years was spending winters there with Adriana and her "beautiful" family. There will be a celebration of his life at the Lieutenant General Ashton Armoury, 724 Vanalman Road, Victoria, BC on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. No gifts or flowers please, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Society. I am saddened to learn today of Col Scott's passing. I last saw him at the St Luke's Mess Dinner in October and have been away since. I was fortunate to have been acquainted with him during my tenure at 11 Field Ambulance. A true officer and gentleman! RIP.

Dear Al Scott's Family,

I first met Captain Al Scott @ 1 CGMU Calgary in early 70s. I was very much a rookie, just returned from Soest, in a Naval uniform no doubt. The Captain was TRG. O. He was a hard dedicated soldier way back then and from what I read he was to the end.

May he rest in peace, he so much deserved it.

Al and I go back quite a few years having served in Canada's military medical services for over 35 years. He has been a very good friend to the end and wrote to me a few weeks ago to discuss his health situation and overall philosophy on life. I share wholly in his fight for people to be given the right to die in dignity.
He was a loyal friend and a role model to many;admired and respected by all.

Tu vas me manquer mon ami mais ce n'est qu'un au revoir mon frère.
