Allyson Denford Obituary

DENFORD, Allyson It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mom Allyson. Whatever challenges she faced in her 80 years, and some of them were significant, Allyson somehow always pulled herself through, emerging a stronger person, with an indomitable spirit and an unwavering curiosity of the world around her and beyond. A remarkable, positive bundle of energy, she loved people and took a genuine interest in everyone she encountered, dispensing hugs frequently, often to the surprise of individuals she had just met! Her final 18 months battling cancer were difficult and painful, and yet she remained cheerful, optimistic and brave. Such was the love for her family that she was determined to make it to Christmas, as she took great pleasure in festivities and celebrations that connected her with her loved ones. Like every year, her apartment was transformed into a magical Christmas wonder-land, over-flowing with ornaments and Krinkles! Despite her incredible strength and desire to stay with us, she could fight no longer and with her family by her side, passed away on the evening of December 29. Allyson is survived by her three children Valerie, Laura (Duncan) and Chris, as well as her ex-husband and life-long friend Gordon. She has a special place in the hearts of her son-in-law Alan Duncan and daughter-in-law Anne (Leyland) Denford. (Yes, she was an awesome mother-in-law!). She is a treasured "Nan" to grandchildren Rachel, Catriona, Brontë, Fallyn, Londyn, and Cashel. The family is especially grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care Allyson received from all of the Care Staff at Berwick Royal Oak. In the spirit of Allyson, hugs to all of you! A celebration of Allyson's life will be held at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney on Sunday, January 31 at 2:00 PM.
