Andrea HUBBARD Obituary

Andrea Ellen Lee Hubbard passed away on Sunday, October 3, after a short and unexpected journey with cancer. Andrea's husband Dan, and children, Michelle, Danielle and Nova (Katree) surrounded her as she passed away. She smiled and offered words of reassurance until the end.
Born to Donovan and Lois Blicq Lee in Florida in 1955, Andrea grew up in California. She met the love of her life, Dan Hubbard, in Victoria, BC, and they married in 1974.
Andrea and Dan traveled around the world in the 1970s, including to the USSR, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. After returning to Canada, Andrea graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in East Asian Studies.
Predeceased by her parents, Andrea leaves behind her husband, Dan, and their three daughters: Michelle (Rob Moroz, granddaughter Robin), Danielle, and Madelyn Nova (Katree Weick). Andrea was loved by her three brothers, Bernie, Carl, and Everett Lee. She will also be remembered by extended family across Canada and the USA, and friends in Victoria and across the globe.
Andrea was a La Leche League leader in the 1980s, worked for the Greater Victoria Public Library (especially the Nellie McClung Branch and Visiting Library Services), and has been an active member of St. Aidan's/Broad View United Church. She loved hiking, camping, and travel, particularly road trips. She also loved wall climbing and was a regular at Crag X Climbing Gym.
Andrea was well read, articulate, and a dedicated diarist and letter writer. Among Andrea's many gifts was her ability to connect with other people, showing a unique depth of empathy, understanding, and kindness. She was one of those rare people who truly wanted to make the world a better place, and who succeeded. She will be greatly missed.
Andrea will find her final resting place at Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria. Friends and family are invited to visit www.earthsoption.com to leave messages of condolence for the family and share memories with others.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Andrea's favourite charities, Broad View United Church and Our Place.
