ANIBAL LIMA Obituary

On March 12, 2018 Anibal Lima passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Anibal was born in Fazenda do Nordeste, São Miguel, Azores. He was predeceased by his son Rui (2015) and his loving wife of 65 years, Normanda (2016). He is survived by his devoted daughters Manuela, Grace, son-in-law Bill and the grandchildren he cherished, Christopher, James and Melanie, Mark Rui and Andrea. Anibal is also survived by 3 caring sisters and many nieces and nephews across North America and Portugal. Anibal immigrated to Canada (Winnipeg, MB) in 1965 and was soon followed by his family. He proudly served the Portuguese community of Winnipeg where he was Vice-Consul of Portugal (1971-1998). Since 1998 Anibal and Normanda called Victoria home where they led a quiet life together, close to their children and grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Astoria Suites (Nanaimo) for their exceptional care of Anibal and his Island Health Case Manager, Marie, whose constant support allowed us to keep Dad at home for so long after the loss of his dear wife. We also wish to express our gratitude to Dr. H. Domke for many years of care and friendship, Dad's neighbours and his long-term home support workers.

Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Victoria.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
