April Ray Obituary

RAY, April Dawn
April Dawn Ray, age 42, of Victoria, British Columbia passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The family would like to thank all of her many friends for just that, being April's friend. April had so many people that loved and supported her.
Survived by her momma Maxine, sister Amber (Michael) and brother Jordan (Andrea) and predeceased by her father Danny (her biggest hero). April was without a doubt the cool auntie to her beloved nieces and nephews; Dylan, Liam, Kara, Nathan, Henrik, and Elsa. April loved spending time with those kids over the decades and also teaching riding to any youngster who was interested in learning.
With a passion for horses that saw April live stretches in England working and training at Stoner School and Calgary working and training at Spruce Meadows, along with stops in California and Germany. April fit a lot into her short time here with us.
Most recently April had found community and a love for her new home of Salt Spring Island. Taking a position at the Harvest Kitchen, often speaking of the connections made as well as the support the organization gave to the community. Additionally on Salt Spring April had joined the Dragon Boat team (Spirit Point Dragons) determined to make her way from the back of the boat all the way to the front, setting the pace for the rest of the 20 paddlers team in one short season. Along the way making some amazing memories and friends.
April had a passion for people and animals, was extremely loyal, hardworking and joyful. Spending time writing, being active with her dogs, laughing, exploring the outdoors, time with friends, family, good food and music were happy times for her.
April gave until she didn't have anymore to give and was the best part of many of our lives. Although we wish for nothing more than more time with April, we are grateful for the time we had and have much to be thankful for.
Rock on sunshine.
Unicorns, mermaids and rainbows.
Love you more.

Just so saddened to hear of April's passing. I really thought highly of her, her spunk, fashion, confidence were to be admired. I have no doubt her spirit is following her loved ones. I hope you have found your peace, April. You will be remembered often, and your family will always be in my thoughts.

April was welcomed like another young daughter into our family because of her love of life, enthusiasm for challenges and especially passion for horses ~~~ such a sweetheart of a young girl . April and my daughter shared a close friendship from riding lessons at a popular riding stable in Victoria as novice riders when ages around nine or ten, perhaps younger. Both excelled in winning many ribbons at the earliest shows but I know April went forward to great promising heights as she matured into a young woman in other countries with shows and teaching equestrian riding. I am not certain but quiet times at least here, centered around baking and playing imaginary unicorns with the latest squeezable washable toy called,My Litte Pony, like Barbie played by the generation before.
My condolences are sincerely offered to the family of April to her Mother, siblings, grandparents ,cousins and her many friends.I think that she gave her best to everyone because of her enthusiastic, clever, bubbly peronality. April true to herself, is loved and admired for whom she truly was. May her memories live in our hearts forever like a bright shining light of a new dawn into a new adventure . April we will miss you. Love to her family Dale Grace Poeckert

It has been a while since I have seen April but she left a long lasting impression and memory of a bad a** cool chick that could never be forgotten once met. She was a special, one of a kind woman who I'm sure has left a crater sized hole in countless hearts. My deepest sympathy to her friends and family.
