Barbara FETHERSTONHAUGH Obituary

With tears in our eyes and holes in our hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara. Born in Victoria, she was the first child of Peter and Sharon Bishop and older sister to Mike and John.

Barb and Jamie found each other in 1984, married in 1986, and built a beautiful life together raising their children.

A dedicated community member, Barb gave her time generously to Rhythmic Gymnastics and countless local organizations. Barb's warmth, kindness, and boundless energy filled every room she entered.

Barb is survived by her husband, Jamie; children Brittany (Jeff), Rachel (Dan), RJ, and Carly (Tyson); grandchildren, Frankie and Dima; parents, Peter and Sharon; brothers, Mike and John; nephews, Nick and Jordan, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Barb's care team at Veterans Memorial Lodge for their kindness and support in her final months.

A celebration of her life will be held in View Royal on April 19, 2025. Please contact the family for details.

Barb was the best. She was light, joy, friend-and a powerhouse. Unflappable, too. She was, as many people have said here, of service. Her commitment to her family, her students, her friends, to her work, was unstoppable. She was a very special person. She made such a difference for so many.

I am very sorry to hear of her passing, but I take solace knowing she made every single moment count. She was a rare and beautiful soul, and spread her songs, and sunshine to so many.

May she now be at rest and at peace. Sending much love, and condolences to Jamie, Britt, Rachel, RJ, Carly and to Barb's great big wonderful family...

Absolutely one of my very favourite students of all time it at Camosun. Barbara grew into a fine young woman, Mother, community member and all around great gal. Rest in peace, forevermore, dear Barb. The world, especially the View Royal community will miss your energy and passion for causes, concern for people needing help, love of life. From our family to the Bishops - We thank you for encouraging her to campaign for us all.

Dear Sharon and Peter: So sorry to read about your daughter. Beverley and I will hold you in our thoughts, especially on the 19th. Glad we have re-established contact through VR Archives. As an old former View Royaler, I noticed right away the names Fetherstonhaugh and Bishop and recalled also Barbara's grandparents, Mary & George Wilmshurst and her Aunt Marg and Uncle George. Our sincere condolence to you both and all your family.
