BARRY ENGLAND Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barry England, who died peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the age of 89 in his beloved home in North Saanich, overlooking the waters he cherished so deeply.
Barry was immensely proud of the life he built, both personally and professionally. Born in 1935, Barry lived and worked across England, Toronto, and Vancouver, leaving behind a legacy defined by his charm, drive, and integrity.
He was a highly successful businessman, holding key leadership roles at renowned companies such as Royal LePage, Seagram, and Cushman & Wakefield. Known for his work ethic and sharp mind, Barry's career was marked by ambition and excellence, qualities that allowed him to retire on his own terms and enjoy the life he had worked so hard to create.
Barry had a great love for his beautiful home and a lifelong passion for cruising the open seas. Few knew that he was also a talented jazz pianist, once approached by a major record label, a path he ultimately turned down in favor of business, but a passion he carried with him for life.
Barry is predeceased by his wife Liz, his daughter Laura England, his parents Walter and Patricia (Winnifred) England, and his uncle Roland. He leaves behind his sister, Cheryl England; his nephew, Nick Allard; and his longtime best friend and business partner, Gary, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Those who knew Barry remember him as charming, easygoing, and full of quiet strength. His wit, wisdom, and generous spirit will be missed by friends, family, and colleagues alike.
In keeping with Barry's wishes, a private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass of Scotch, play a bit of jazz, or take a quiet moment to enjoy the view, just as he would have.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, especially his sister and nephew, with his generosity, his quiet brilliance, and his unwavering spirit.
