Beverly Snyder Obituary

Beverly passed away in Victoria, BC on the afternoon of December 8, 2025 following a hard-fought, 2 year battle with cancer. Born to Olaf and Doris (nee Simmonds) Wick on July 31, 1946, she was the second oldest of 4 children.

With a passion for education, she earned her degree from the University of British Columbia in 1967. Thereafter, Beverly's career reflects her true dedication and versatility serving as a training manager at Safeway, marketing agent with the Saanich Credit Union, the president of Westbrook Home Hardware, and as a travel agent and tour guide. She left a lasting impact on her community through her involvement in the Juan de Fuca Chamber of Commerce, Langford Enhancement Society, National Hardware Association, Belmont Business Association, and the Western Community Seniors Low-Cost Housing Society. Through her fulfillment of all of these roles, she leaves a legacy of inspiration, innovation, compassion, and curiosity. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, sibling, mother, and grandmother.

Beverly was married to Donald Snyder and they shared an incredible marriage together spanning over five decades and the strong bond they shared was evident to all of those around them. Together they raised Robert and Darren (Cindy); two accomplished children. Beverly found her place on earth with her grand-children and it was a passion like no other. She lived every minute to watch Owen, Mareena, Broden, and Dylan grow up and flourish. Beverly also cherished her siblings Larry Wick (Gwen), Geraldine Wick (predeceased), and Sharon (nee Wick) Cook (Jim) as well as her nephews and nieces Mike and Chris Wick, Tanis and Kendra Ballendine, Kari (nee Cook) Labelle, and Tara (nee Cook) Wort. The Wick family has a proud legacy in the fishing industry along the BC coast while the Simmonds family has roots in the retail industry dating back to the 1920s. The Snyder family has been involved in the cabinet making, lumber wholesale, and hardware businesses in Victoria since the 1940s exemplifying perseverance and dedication through generations.

Beverly is now resting in peace. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date at the Royal Colwood Golf Club in Langford, BC. Donations instead of flowers are appreciated and will be graciously accepted by the BC Cancer Society.

Our most sincere sympathy to Bev´s family and friends.
We have very fond memories of Bev over the years. She always took time to visit when we made our trips from Saskatchewan to Victoria. Always generous with her time and little gifts which she always gave us. Her love of family and friendship with true kindness was beyond measure. Her memories will always be near.
Treasure the memories!

Don, Rob and Darren. I am so so sorry for your loss. Bev was a very dear friend and will be sadly missed. I have wonderful memories from way back. Most fun was when we became grandparents and taking the grandchildren all over - mostly to the beach. Many other things we did. She never ran out of energy, and was always willing to lend a hand. It is hard to believe she is gone. May she rest in peace.

Bev was a wonder of all things. It didn't matter whether it was working, organizing her many trips, helping in her Soroity or being with her grandchildren. She was a beautiful person inside and out in her many rolls. An inspiration to many for sure. She will be missed by many.

Bev could walk into a room and notice who needed a kind word to feel comfortable, she was an example of how to work hard with a smile. I have so many memories of Bev that bring a smile to my face, from the teenager who learned a lot of life lessons to the adult who reached out to her when I needed advice. She always made me feel included and she always had time, despite being that person to so many others. Bev, I´m so happy I got to see your smiling face when I last visited, and I am a better person for knowing you. My heart hurts and I wish all of your family my sincere and heartfelt condolences. Thank you for being a friend to my Mom - and thank you for being a friend to me. You will truly be missed by everyone who knew you.

Don, Rob, Darren & Family,
Saddened to hear of Bev´s passing. We got to know Bev being neighbours to your rental property on Jenkins. Many visits and chats over the neighborhood fence were made. Bev was a lovely person and may you find peace that she is no longer suffering. She will be missed next door. Hugs, Glen & Barb
