Bob Wanless Obituary

WANLESS, Bob (Robert Edward) April 19, 1936 January 22, 2009 He left us as he lived, without fuss or fanfare and with everything in order, sharing his gratitude for life and family to the end. His quiet presence and good humour will be missed by all: his wife Jocelyn; son Steve and grandsons Scott & Sean; daughter Karalee and husband Gordon; brother Ray and his wife Joyce and kids Dean, Brent, Kirk, Lori, & Tracy; stepsons Ken Baker and wife Sara and grandkids Riley & Tegan, Ian Baker and partner Jodi and grandkid Cosmin, Keith Baker and wife Cheryl and grandkids Jesse and Cameron, stepdaughter Linda Baker and husband Wayne Ediger and grandkids David and Juliana. Bob loved billiards, trains, music, crossword puzzles, old movies, and a good joke once in awhile. His optimism, despite failing health, cheered many at John Alfred Manor where he lived, and he enjoyed the irony of spending his later years in the very building where he'd once toiled as a government clerk in the BC Motor Vehicle Branch. We are enormously grateful to the kind and dedicated staff of the Respiratory Ward at Royal Jubilee Hospital for taking such good care of Bob, and for their thoughtful support of visiting family members. His penchant for an orderly life now manifests in the `wake' he himself organized some time ago, and asks that we enjoy a relaxed, fun, social time for all". Please join us Saturday February 7, 2 PM at First Memorial Garden of Memories, 4725 Falaise Dr., at the Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria, for some good music, and a few stories and laughs with those whose lives he touched. Bob also asked that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Santas Anonymous, CFAX Victoria. 523670

I truly hope you are in a happier place Uncle Bob. Your last years I could see were not much joy for you because of your illnesses and I only hoped you would live in less pain, somehow. Now you have no pain I believe and are on another journey.

I'll miss you Uncle Bob and will think of you often. I'm going to go to the pub downstairs now, grab a guinness and raise the glass in your honour. Maybe have another chat with this fella from Ireland that owns the place; nice fella, we have become friends here.

Rest in peace man. I'll see you again in another life so we can have another game of snooker, a pint or ten, and some robust conversation!

Good bye Uncle Bob.

Love, from your nephew,
Kirk
