Bruce MCLARTY Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of Bruce McLarty. Two years following his cancer diagnosis, he bid farewell on April 5th with his family by his side. His absence will be deeply felt. He will be missed by his wife Joyce, son Ian (Melanie), daughter Laura (Jared) and grandson Fletcher.
Bruce was born in Winnipeg on October 19th, 1943 to Herbert Bruce and Agnes. At a young age, he and his parents moved to Toronto where he pursued his education and met his wife Joyce. It was there he began his career as a successful entrepreneur
In 1999, the family moved to Vancouver Island. Shortly thereafter, they established roots in Sidney and opened McLarty's Gifts & Furnishings. Bruce took great pride in being a prominent member of the community and remained an active member long after his retirement in 2009.
Bruce was known for his passion for sailing and tennis, both of which brought him immense joy throughout his life. His presence will be sorely missed not only on the courts and waters but also in our hearts and gatherings. His humour and kindness prevailed throughout his life and we celebrate the beautiful memories he left behind and the profound impact he had on each of us.
The family will soon announce details of his celebration of life.

To Joyce, Laura and Ian, so sorry to hear about Bruce's passing. Lots of happy memories: his wonderful dry sense of humour and a fun guy to sail with. Sidney benefited from his behind-the-scenes contribution to marketing the town as a shopping destination. Sending our sincere condolences.

To Joyce and family, so sorry to hear that Bruce has passed. I have known him since I was 15 years old, when he found Lynn and I cooking our breakfast on a Sunday morning, over an open fire on an island on Lovesick Lake! My thoughts are with you..... Sharon Wilkinson
