Carol CULLIMORE Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Anne Cullimore (nee Foster) at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on February 14, 2024, at the age of 84. Carol lived a good life, deeply committed to her hobbies and loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents Richard Foster and Caroline Shearing (nee Foster, nee Smith) and by her brother, David Foster.

Born in Victoria, BC, Carol spent her formative years in Oak Bay. After graduating in the Class of '57 from Oak Bay Highschool, she married and raised her family in Gordon Head. Carol was a proud mother to her daughters, Teresa Lowdon, Tracy Westhaver, and Tammy Squire, who meant the world to her. She found immense joy being Grandma Green to grandchildren Alycia (Scott), Katie (Kevin); Caitlin (Bradley), Ashley; Carley (John), Randy and to her great-grandchildren Abigail, Ewan, Lily and Emilia. She was also well known as Mrs. C by many friends and by her son-in-law Roy and former sons-in-law Bruce and Terry. She also leaves behind her cousins, sister-in-law, niece and nephew.

Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed boating, fishing and camping; she was an avid figure skater, line and square dancer; a skilled seamstress and knitter; and she prepared many delicious family meals, breads, baked goods and jams. Her green thumb tended many plants and gardens and she adored her orchids. She had many special memories from her vacations to Bermuda, Florida and Parksville with her daughters and grandchildren, cross border shopping trips and casino bus tours. After a lengthy career with the Office of the Legislative Counsel, she retired and became a volunteer at the Royal BC Museum, enjoyed dog walking with friends at Lambrick Park and socialized with her bridge and music bingo groups.

Carol was a dedicated sports fan and spent her most recent days sitting in her chair knitting toques and scarves for charity, while cheering on her favourite teams. Her love for animals was boundless and she will be sorely missed by her pooch, Jersey.

She will be fondly remembered for her generosity and leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. Carol will be dearly missed by all who knew her but her spirit and her memories will live on "In Our Hearts Forever".

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to BC Cancer Foundation.

I hope Carol and her brother David are sharing some stories and laughs together. She and Dave went on scheduled walks and talks in the last year of his life and he enjoyed that.
She looked after Paul in his early years when Janet passed away early on.
We enjoyed many holiday dinners and hosting the cousins on the "farm" at Sooke when they were younger.
Carol enjoyed a good laugh and she will be missed. She was an avid volunteer and financial supporter at the Museum.

Carol, my 1957 OBHS classmate, was the soul and enthusiastic organizational data base manager of our great grad class up until our final 3 day walk down memory lane held at Goward House (Mary's home) and two other homes in 2017. She was also my forgiving date at a dance in grade 9 when I first came to OBHS. You will be missed sincerely by everyone in our grad class. Condolences to your family. Ken and Donna Street

Carol and we served on the executive of the Promenaders Square Dance Club for many years. We enjoyed dancing with her during those years. She was a wonderful lady with a great sense of humour.
