Cecil Gould Obituary

GOULD, Cecil Edwin John
(M.A., University of Victoria)
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Cecil Edwin John Gould, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on October 4, 2025, at the age of 94. Predeceased by Sheila Mary Gould (nee Beckwith) in 2016, his wife of 38 years, and his siblings Kathleen, Evelyn, Nesta and Arthur.
Born in Calgary to Cecil Edwin Gould and Edith Emily Gould (nee Hill), Cecil was second youngest of five. He was educated in schools in Oak Bay and served as a cadet in the Canadian army reserve during World War II.
As former teacher and principal at Metchosin Elementary and John Stubbs, he is remembered by students and community members. A proud achievement after retirement was his appointment to the Capital Region Health Board, where he served about five years.
Throughout his life, he loved music and performing arts, often travelling with Sheila to see performances in Toronto and Vancouver. Together, in retirement, they also saw many parts of Canada, the United States, Europe, China and Russia.
Cecil loved Victoria and had a remarkable memory for its stories and people.

Cecil will be missed by many, including family, lifelong friends and neighbours. A service will be held at 10 am November 7, 2025, followed by a reception at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC.
Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallgardens.com.

Cec & his wife Sheila were wonderful fellow Piers Islanders. Although they were part-timers, Cec & Sheila were devoted islanders who supported the Piers Shuttle by his co-ordination of that project & coming to Piers every Tues & Fri to 'check out things'.... Cel was a great guy!

Cec was an integral part of carrying on our little ferry service for Piers Island. He and Sheila would come over just for the day to make sure the bird feeders were full. He was such a lovely gentle soul. We connected once a year, at Christmas, but it was like we´d spoken yesterday. Our hearts are with you.

Mr Gould was a great teacher and principal .. he was also my grade 7 teacher at Metchosin School, Later in life, I worked at John Stubbs Elementary and he was principal there as well. That was interesting!!
Always kind, sometimes forgiving but always honest. He will be missed by so many. RIP, you deserve it!
