AYERS, Charles Richard
1944 - 2026
Charles Richard Ayers passed peacefully on January 23, 2026, surrounded by love and those closest to him.
Born in Montreal and raised between Canada and England, Charles devoted his life to aviation. One of the youngest commercial jet pilots of his time, he flew internationally for decades, including with BEA, Canadian Pacific Airlines, and later Air Canada, retiring after logging approximately 18,000 flight hours across eight aircraft types.
After retiring he settled in Cowichan Bay where he remained active in his community. He served as President of his strata council and was deeply involved with the South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club for more than twenty years, where he also served as President and was an enthusiastic competitor.
Charles found great satisfaction in helping others and giving back to his community whenever he could. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
He is survived by his daughter Glaucia and his grandchildren Isaac, Jussara, Xzavier, and Jonisah. He will also be missed by his devoted companion Baloo.
A celebration of life will be held March 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Cobble Hill, BC. Light refreshments will be served.
