With Charles firmly in the lead, I helped to arrange and promote two shows of local Indigenous art at the Mary Winspear Centre. These were co-sponsored by the First Unitarian Church of Victoria. I count it an honour to have had a working relationship with Charles in projects that pulled in the direction of understanding and harmony between our two cultures. Farrell Boyce

I'm glad to have known Charles. I spent everyday with him while I built his carving shed. We had a lot of fun with our banter and views. Later I introduced Charles to my father and he began building chicken coops for Charles and others. When my father passed on Charles was there and I appreciated his medicine. I will miss him. My best to Myrna and the family.

I had the fortune to meet TEMOSENTET Charles and to see the family's incredible art show (https://saltspringarts.com/artcraft/jsinset-sweloke/) last summer. Charles was warm, big hearted, and welcoming. This is a huge loss and my condolences to the whole family, especially Chazz and Matt, whose amazing work no doubt would not be the same without such an amazing mentor.

I was saddened to hear the news that Charles had passed. I had the great pleasure to work with him to bring his beautiful art and totems to the Victoria Airport. He was truly dedicated to his community and always committed to teaching whether it was his carving skills or telling the stories of his history and cultural traditions. I will fondly remember my visits to his studio and our conversations. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends .
