Charles Hill Obituary
HILL, Charles
March 28, 1940 - September 28, 2025
Chuck passed away peacefully on September 28 at the Royal Jubilee Hospice. He is survived by his wife Lynn, son Timothy and son-in-law Marlon, and daughter Stacey. He was 'Uncle Chuck' to many nieces and nephews, and brother to Harold, Terry and sister-in-law Dianne. He was also 'Grandpa' to Matthew, Finn, Lillyann and Lucy.
Chuck was born in Welland, Ontario and moved to California in his 20s, working at Palm Drive hospital where he met his wife Lynn. They married in 1970 and moved to Edmonton where he studied at NAIT and had Tim and Stacey.
In 1975, he and his young family of 4 moved to Victoria where he started working as a Respiratory Technologist at different hospitals, including VGH and the Gorge. He retired from this role in 1998. Over the years, he spent much of his time outside of work curling, coaching Oak Bay girls soccer, encouraging Tim's musical endeavours, hitting golf balls, and cheering on the Leafs. He also had a passion for certain genres of music that was impressive and impactful. In his retirement, Chuck began hosting a jazz and blues radio show at CFUV called 'Smoker's Cough' which ran until 2022 and had a dedicated following. Highlights of his retirement also included several trips to Europe with Lynn.
Chuck's past few years and days were spent in his home in Sidney with Lynn. Special thanks to his caregivers and to Victoria Hospice.
In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. At some time in the future, there will be an open house to gather and remember him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
