Charles Lawn Obituary

LAWN, Charles Robin
1933 - 2025

Robin Lawn was born in Reading, England and grew up in England and Scotland. After the completion of his education, Robin joined the RAF. He was stationed in post-war Germany (Westfalia) where he met his future wife Kaethe to whom he was married for almost 67 years. They followed his parents who, together with his brother Anthony and sister Noelle, had immigrated to Canada and had settled in Montreal. Robin and Kaethe lived for 30 years in the small, picturesque south-shore community of St. Bruno where they raised their children Christina (Pierre) and Peter (Anca ).
Robin enjoyed a successful career in the aviation industry (Pratt and Whitney) which included world-wide travels. He was respected for his integrity and technical knowledge. Upon retirement , Robin and Kaethe chose to live on Vancouver Island in the Cordova Bay neighbourhood where they enjoyed over 32 years of magnificent ocean views, splendid sunrises and good neighbours. Robin was a passionate golfer and bridge player, built a wooden kayak and hiked in the splendid West Coast forests.
He loved life and deeply appreciated the many blessings that had come his way.
Robin was a good father and husband and was generous, kind and optimistic to the end.
A true gentleman.
Thanks go to Dr. Brock Fraser, Donna Wilson R.N., Dr. Matthew Ward, Dr. Kari-Jean McKenzie, Dr. Jerry Jacob and the staff of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Also to his many friends at CB55+, the Gulfview neighbourhood, his book group, the bridge players and his fellow golfers.
A Celebration of Life to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation.

I met Robin and his bridge partner Bill Bean at our duplicate bridge clubs here in Victoria. Robin was a great opponent at bridge! Always smiling & friendly and at the bridge annual Christmas dinner & bridge at Monterey Centre he would appear in his tuxedo....he looked like a model. But it was his charm and demeanour that set him apart. My sincere condolences to the family.
