Charles NESBITT Obituary
Born in Rossland, Chuck was a BC boy through and through, though his joining the CDN Air Force in the 1950s saw he and his family living all over North America and even France. His retirement from the military in 1980 (at Lt Colonel) led to settling finally in Sidney, BC where he continued working for Transport Canada in the Air Control Tower at YYJ.
Upon his retirement there, Chuck's "Call Letters" were permanently retired as a show of respect for his hard work and dedication.
Post retirement life saw Chuck volunteering much of his time, splitting duties between the Sidney Lions Club--where he spearheaded the "Sight Committee" program ensuring grade school children received much needed glasses by covering much of the cost charitably--and the Sidney Food Bank.
Kindness and service were the dual themes of his life.
Having just reached his 90th birthday, Chuck is predeceased by his loving wife Shirley and survived by son Ken (Suzanne), daughter Gayle (Daryl) and son Rob (Wendy) along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family sends its deepest gratitude to the workers at Sidney All Care whose professionalism and affection assured that our father felt comfortable and safe.
A private life celebration will be held by the family in the future. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
