WARING, Charles Henry (Harry) Passed away peacefully on March 18, 2005 in the loving arms of his wife of 17.5 years, Vera and his devoted and loving family after a short courageous battle with cancer. Harry was born in Victoria on January 6, 1927, Predeceased by his parents Ivy and Henry and his first wife Marie. He will be sadly missed by his loving children Chuck (Louise), Bill (Lorraine), Janet (Fred) Miller and Barry, From his marriage to Vera, Harry gained three more daughters, who also loved him dearly; Lynn (Gord) Wilkinson, Debbie (Doug) Robertson and Vicki (Jack) Martin, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children. He also is survived by siblings Howard (Muriel), Bert, and Ann (Ron) Coggan and many other family members. At 15 years he was an apprentice electrician which carried him to his Navy years. Harry served 5 years in the Canadian Navy and 40 years as a salesman and supervisor with 4X Bakery and McGavins Bread. For over 25 years, Harry was involved with Navy League Of Canada, President of the Duncan Branch. He was actively involved with the Admiral Mainguy Sea Cadet Corps, as well as the Navy League Corps. He will also be remembered as the Seine Road and Larkspur Dr. "SANTA!' and their beautiful decorated yard, which over the years made thousands of young and old happy with his candy canes and ho ho hos. Harry enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling, spending lots of time in his workshop, building furniture and his famous driftwood villages. He lived, loved and enjoyed every single day and will be sadly missed by his many friends, family and especially his soul mate and best friend Vera. The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to his friend and Doctor Owen Gloster, and the fabulous staff at C.D.H. 2 South who were so supportive and caring of him and his wife Vera during the past difficult months. A celebration of his life will be held at New Life Community Baptist Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan Thursday, March 24 at 1:00pm. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the Duncan Fire Hall on 468 Duncan Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Muscular Dystrophy or the Canadian Cancer Society. "His courage and bravery were an example to us all." 55615
