Christopher Tyrrell Obituary

TYRRELL, Christopher George
November 13, 1948 - January 4, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Tyrrell on January 4, 2024. Son of the late Ken Tyrrell and Eda Haywood. Chris is survived by his wife Linda; daughters Kristie (James), Starre, and Angie (Ian); grandchildren, Dexter, Cain, Elijah and Evie.
Chris was an extremely competitive and successful swimmer in his youth. He worked at C-Fax 1070 before a long career as an art designer at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria. Many of the museum exhibit posters were designed by him.
Chris thoroughly enjoyed supporting his family's sports and musical endeavors. He had a passion for music, was a great cook and party host.
Chris had a long battle with various medical conditions. He fought to the very end in such a positive manner. A special thank you to Joe Gilgunn for providing us the extra time with him.
Dad, Grampa, Husband, Friend,
you will always be missed and forever loved.

Hello,
I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of Chris. He used to come into the sign shop that I worked at over 18 years ago. I was so curious about the work that he did. He recommended a design school that I could attend. Today I'm an Art Director for a local company. I credit Chris for encouraging me to follow my career path. He was an inspiration for young designers.

I just wanted to send a quick note to Linda, the kids and the many friends of Chris. I worked with Chris for many years at the Provincial museum and know he will be missed by all of us. Memories of his role as a member of the Caledonia Street irregulars for lunch at the Szechuan Resturant or him wearing a waste basket fez hat at the Casablanca Museum Christmas party. He was a man of class and style. I will always smile when I think of him.

It was a pleasure to work with Chris, a kind person and talented graphic designer. He would often share details of the dinner parties or gatherings that had amazing food and beverage. Chris was so generous, I recall that he also would bring Victoria Creams Roger's Chocolates to his colleagues. Sending deepest condolences to Linda and Chris's family who will feel the tremendous loss.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I was always impressed with Chris´ innate sense of taste and creativity which expressed itself in his work, home, kitchen and family life. Chris had a wonderfully subtle sense of humour and observation and I enjoyed plenty of laughs with him. I lost touch with Chris over the years but recall fondly many informal get togethers hanging out when our children were young. My sincere condolences to Linda and family.
