Clive Draper Obituary
DRAPER, Clive Henry 1933-2005 With great sadness we announce Clive's death on June l7. He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Joyce, daughter Jennifer with partner April, son Mark (with wife Janine and two granddaughters), and son Darren. He also leaves behind his sister Cora in Aylesbury, England , his sister-in-law, and many nieces and cousins in Ireland and England together with Joan (stepmother) in Winnipeg. I give thanks to my nephew and wife, Lorne and Merna Tesarski, from Calgary who gently walked me through this tragic turmoil and I was happy to know that the children were here to wish him a 'peaceful journey'. To the many staff members and nurses at the Priory, I am humbled by their devoted attention. I also want to thank Dr. Conway for his commitment in coming to see Clive when necessary. Thanks to Rev. Ken Gray for coming at such short notice to be at his bedside at No. 6 Arbutus Cottage. Born December 31, 1930 in Dublin, Ireland, Clive arrived in Winnipeg at age 20. He married Joyce Tesarski on August 25, 1956. The family moved to Hawaii and then California. After returning to Canada in 1989 he joined Kevin McLaughlin Financial Services until retiring at age 64. The following year he and I, with friends from California, took an extended vacation to visit Scotland, Ireland, and England as our retirement gift. That was to be his last visit to his homeland. Clive achieved many skills in his lifetime. His Professional Development extended to American Society of Pension Actuaries, Washington, DC, Chartered Life Underwriter, American College, Bryn Mawr, PA, and Life Office Management Association, New York, NY. All his co-workers will remember him as a gentle but 'witty' Irishman. He was passionate in making sure that his work and his family life ran to perfection. I know that whomever he got to know, in his quiet way, will miss him as dreadfully as I will. There will be a Memorial Tea on Monday June 27th, 2005 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Olympic View Golf Club, 643 Latoria Road, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimers Society of British Columbia, 257l A Quadra St., Victoria, B.C. V8T 4E1 103785
