My favourite professor at UVic. He made economics very interesting... relating the concepts with real-life examples & stories. Plus, he loved to talk boxing and was a big Tommy Farr fan. Tommy went 15 rounds with the great Joe Louis. JCH went 15 rounds with a great life.

Wonderful stimulating professor of economics especially in the area of history of economic thought. One of my two best professors at U Vic. Kind and generous with his time. Very much missed!

I was among Colin's first students at UVIC in 1963. I fondly remember his classes where, as a freshly-minted PhD from Queen's university (and only 5 years older than most of us third year majors), he made the so-called dismal science come alive in his thoughtful, exhuberant and humorous lectures and seminars. RIP JCH.

I was a student of Dr. Jones' in the 1990s and he was a very kind and supportive professor. He was always positive and happy to help. He provided me with a job helping collect data for his research as well as supervising my master's paper. I am sure he enhanced many of his student's lives as he did mine. My condolences to his family.

I'm very sad to learn of Colin's passing, albeit at a wonderful age. My sincere condolences to Betty & the family. I had the honour & pleasure of knowing Colin when his son, Don, played in the Gordon Head Little League, many years' ago, while I was a coach for another team.Knowing Colin made me a better person as well as all those whose lives he touched. Colin was a wonderful, friendly and courteous person whose reputation at UVIC, which I attended, spoke volumes to the kind of professor he was.

We wish to express our sincere condolences. We were saddened to hear of Colin's passing . For 37 years he and Betty have been wonderful neighbours. Dan enjoyed having Colin as his Economics Professor at UVic. Unfortunately we are unable to attend the service as we are out of the country.

I was a UVic student of Colin's in the 1960s and remember particularly his research into big pharma. His values, curiosity and quest for truth and accountability had an impact then and endured most helpfully through my career.
Can you find JCH?
