Very sad to have lost another of our RMC class of 78. Colin was a kind, professional & well respected as a friend and was well-known for his ready smile. Condolences to family and friends. May the loss be overwhelmed by many happy memories!

Although we were both MILCOL Class of 1978, and trained as naval officers, I was RMC and he RRMC, as so I did not get to know Colin until after graduation. We came to know each other in Halifax, as we both knew Jim Bartholomew (also gone too soon), mostly after I left the navy for medical school in the mid-1980's. He attended my wedding in Halifax in 1988. We continued to see each other on and off in Halifax, and in Ottawa, as he and I were posted to both places. After he last left Halifax after serving as the CO of HMCS Halifax, we lost touch. But I will always remember his warm smile, cheerful attitude and calm professionalism. He was wise, and spoke his truth with firm conviction and humility. A great friend. My condolences to his family. Fair winds and following seas my friend.

Yesterday

I met Colin when he was a second year cadet at RRMC. When he graduated two years later it was a remarkable transition from a junior cadet to the CWC (cadet wing commander). Always a polite, respectful individual, who was dedicated to the profession. Years later he always showed a side of compassion and understanding for the Navy and the requirements to lead.
Truly a gentlemen!
My condolences to the family!!

Colin was a dedicated and highly respected naval officer and gentleman. I was lucky to have him on two of my teams in Ottawa. Gone far too soon. My sincerest condolences to his family. RIP Captain, we have the watch! Yours, Aye, Kevin

Fair winds Colin, you were a kind, consistent and fair leader and officer who set a fine example to me in my early career. We did not see much of each other after those early days but I was saddened to hear of his loss because of my positive memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time. A fine gentleman has left us too early.

I first came to know Colin while I was working in Naval Requirements and later when he became Chief of Staff. Occasionally we'd share a Saturday morning Breakfast and have great debates. Unfortunately COVID put an end to those morning outings. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to Jill, Johnathon, Emilie and his entire family.

Colin was professional, congenial, talented and dedicated. I don't know many who were universally liked by all they met, as we all rub at least some the wrong way, but I would put Colin in that category. We bumped into each other often in our long Naval careers, and it was always a profoundly pleasant experience. My condolences to family for a very sad loss.
