YEE, Dan Chee
November 6, 1935 - November 2, 2025
We are saddened to announce the passing of Dan Chee Yee, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, on November 2, 2025 at the Jubilee Hospital just before his 90th birthday. Dan Chee is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sophia; children Garry, Linda (Kelly), and Ricky (Fiona); grandchildren Herald, Jeremy, Astrid, Arielle, and Naomi; as well as nieces and nephews Jimmy, Frank, Henry, May and Cindy, all of whom came to be by his side before his passing.
Dan Chee was born on November 6, 1935 in New Lotus Village, Toi Shan County, Guangdong Province, China. He came to Canada in the 1950s and married Sophia in Victoria in 1965. Together they ran Tai Sang Co, a Chinatown grocery store for 20+ years until their retirement in 2000. Dan Chee was an exceptional cook, and in retirement he enjoyed cooking many wonderful meals for his family, in addition to gardening and serving faithfully at the Chinese Pentecostal Church. His kindness, gentleness and loving nature will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
We extend our sincere thanks for the care Dan Chee received on the North 8th Floor of the Jubilee Hospital. A celebration of life for Dan Chee will be held at 10:00 am November 10, 2025 at Sands Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria, B.C, followed by his 11:30 am internment at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, B.C., and then a 1pm luncheon at Golden City Restaurant, 721 Fisgard Street, Victoria, B.C.
