Daniel Holder Obituary
HOLDER, Daniel Alan
August 31, 1955 - August 3, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Alan Holder on August 3, 2025, at the age of 69.
Dan passed away peacefully at home with his wife Lynne by his side. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Amanda (Natasha); sister Cherie; stepchildren Adam and Beth (Greg); and his four cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Morgan, Allie, and Hunter.
Born in 1955, Dan dedicated his life to service and community. He joined the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department in 1976, serving with unwavering commitment for 35 years, including 18 years as Fire Chief. After retiring from Sidney, Dan continued his dedication to public safety in Port Alberni with ACDR for several years, where his leadership and compassion left a lasting impact.
Beyond his fire service, Dan was an avid fly fisherman. His love for the sport took him to rivers across British Columbia and beyond-Oregon, Montana, and Ontario. What began as a personal hobby evolved into a successful custom reel business, where his craftsmanship was as meticulous as his fishing technique.
Dan's life was woven together by two families-his fire service family and his fishing family-each holding countless memories of camaraderie, adventure, and laughter. He will be remembered for his steady leadership, warm heart, and the way he could light up a room with fishing stories of "the one that got away."
"I will be forever grateful to all the friends who called or visited over the last couple of months.
You made him smile, and boosted me up as well.
I will love you forever, my best friend, my grumpy old man"
-Lynne
Dan will be deeply missed, yet forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
