Danny McDougall Obituary

Born Joseph Daniel, raised in St. Adolphe, MB. Joined the navy as a teenager to get off the Prairies but when posted in Halifax he quickly requested a transfer to the West Coast. Once in Victoria, he was (very) fortunate to meet a young lady from Metchosin named Ruth Cann. They married, added two kids Kim and Mark and a white picket fence. Dad left the navy and trained as an Orderly at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Years later he became certified as an Orthopedic Tech, mastering the art of casting half of Victoria. Life became a balance of family, shift work and play, not necessarily in that order. He loved to compete in most sports and games including bowling, soccer, fastball and golf. Passions included coaching Kim's fastball teams, golfing with Mark and friends, and traveling with Oop (Ruth). he was a people person by nature, creative, artistic and always physically active, able to work around the farm and walk Gorge Vale Golf Club three times a week. Dad is survived by his sister Irene, daughter Kim (Mike), son Mark (Cindy), grandkids Daniel, Bella (Ben), Cody, Mya and Liam, plus many extended family members. Honourable mentions to; Mickie his lovely neighbour whom he was able to share company with in recent years, Telford, Carol, Wayne & Merle and Jill. There are many shared memories with the Dawson Family, his co-workers & friends from RJH and Gorge Vale, (outstanding depts to Mark). Family will be having a small gathering. Please, no flowers, but if inclined, donations could be directed to Gorge Vale's Junior Program.

To the McDougall family, so sorry for your loss. Danny was a great man, who always had a positive attitude and was maybe the kindest person I knew. He was a tough competitor on the golf course though, and he took great satisfaction whenever I had to open up my wallet to him after a round. I, as many others, will miss his friendship, quick wit and ever-smiling face.
R.I.P. Danny.

Aww...there's a smile I will always remember from my years at RJH. Such a pleasant, kind man your Dad was, and I'm so very sorry for your loss. I didn't know him well, but there was always a smile and an exchange of pleasantries when our paths crossed. Again, my condolences to his family and many friends. He was a Prince of a man.
