Darrel will forever be remembered by me as a young man so full of life, happiness, kindness and gentleness. He held a very special place in more hearts than he knew. I along with my colleagues at the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC was shocked and saddened to hear of Darryl's sudden passing. Darryl's contributions to the Association and industry were significant and after meeting him several times within the past two years, I see why many speak so fondly of him. CHBA BC sends our deepest and sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

I was at many homebuilders functions that Darrel attended and he always had a smile and a hug awaiting.

All we can do is echo many of the previous sentiments as to the shock and sadness we experienced at the news of Darrel's passing. We have many fond memories of times spent with Darrel at countless CHBA events, fundraisers and meetings. He was a respected colleague, builder and all round great guy. He will be missed. My sincerest and deepest condolences to Darrel's family, Pat and her children. Darrel and I dated several years ago and continued to remain friends since. It has been some time since I last saw Darrel however I will cherish the memories I have of him and the fun we had together. I met Darrel in our 1st year Carpentry class 31 yrs ago and we have been good friends ever since. Darrel was always smiling and happy and ready for anything.You could always count on Darrel when you needed him.He will be deeply missed. I can speak for all his close friends that we are all very shocked saddened by his loss.

I have been shaken by the loss of such a wonderful man. We knew each other in high school and he always had a way of making you feel comfortable and accepted.

I am so saddened for the loss of such a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Orr family. I had the opportunity to reconnect with Darrel at his nieces wedding and it was like the years just melted away! We spent a great night reminiscing. We have lost a true friend far one early. I went to school with Darel since grade 6 and also spent some time while he was working with Home Builders. Although we never saw each other regularly, when we did there was alway a big smile a hug hug. You will be truly missed my friend. Condolences go out to his entire family. Take care of yourselves.

My heart is aching as I write this message - Dorothy, Brian, Debbie and Graham and your families - I am so sorry for your loss of Darrel. I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know Darrel over the years through our parents wonderful 60+ year friendship. He helped us build and renovate our homes and plan our "dream retreat" up at Cowichan which I had hoped he would build for us one day. He was there for me when both my parents passed away with the kindest words and warmest hugs. He was generous, kind, honest, funny and a great friend. A true class act - just like his family. We would like to send our condolences to Darrel's family for their loss. We just found out today and were absolutely shocked and saddened to hear this news. Darrel was a friend and colleague. I met Darrel some years ago at the Canadian Home Builders Association in Victoria and sat on many committees with him. He was generous and giving of his time to the association. He was also involved in everything including the home show, charity events, and the executive board of directors right through to president of the local association. More recently he was involved in getting the Canadian Home Builders Association - Central Vancouver Island up and running. Darrel will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences to all of Darrel's family & friends.
I met Darrel through friends back in 2000 and hired him to do a complete renovation on my condo. He is a perfectionist and did an amazing job. I was also honoured to call him a friend.
Every time I look around my home at the work that has been done, I think of Darrell.
I am very sad to know that he is no longer here.~

I was very sad today to hear this news.
Darrel was a friend of mine in high school.
I saw him Spring of 2014 Parkland alumni and had a great visit with him. I also remember Darrel always having a smile just like the photo. He was always so pleasant and always took the time to chat with me.
I am sure Darrel will be missed by many people. Condolences to the family.

Always the first to reach out with a smile, a laugh or a hug, Darrel wanted to know how your life was going and what you were up to. Hearing of a conflict he wanted to know how he could help make things better. These are the memories I will cherish of our times together. Darrel was a gentleman and he will be missed. To Brian, Dorothy, Debbie, Graham and the rest of the Orr family: I'm shocked to learn of Darrel's passing. To me, he'll always be one of the little Orr children who used to visit our neighbours, the Harrison, when I was just a kid. As an adult, I used to run into him occasionally but sometimes wouldn't recognize him because he was a grown man and not the boy I remembered. He is gone far too young. My condolences to you all.

I first met Darrel at Sansbury Elementary. I remember him being one of the shorter boys in the class, which was cool with me because I was short too! It's funny, the things you remember about first meeting someone. He was living the dream which was cut far too short! He was always the sweetest person and I will remember him always. Such sad news!! I went to high school with Darrel and he was so lovely! I had the pleasure of seeing him in 2012 when I went for a visit to Canada and he was just the same, young, happy guy. I will miss him on FB. RIP dear Darrel.

We got in touch again a few years ago. The first thing he did was to ask if he could pass a message forward to his brother, ,Graham, who I knew from
