David Buxton Obituary

The last in a long line.
A proud native son of Victoria has died. David Wells Buxton, the last surviving Buxton of the original Buxton family, died in Victoria on December 18, 2025 at 94 years of age.
Dad was the son of Percival Herbert Bertram (aka Titch) Buxton and Phoebe Jane Mildred Buxton (nee Wells) and was the 8th son of 8 boys and 6 girls... he was the 2nd youngest in the line of 14. The Buxton's were one of the largest pioneering families of Victoria who are honored by the regional landmark, Buxton Green Park in Esquimalt, BC. Dad was a career soldier with the PPCLI for 35 years finishing his career at the Royal Roads Military College.
He was predeceased by our Mom, Rae Buxton, in 2012. He is survived by daughters Bev, Dayle, son David and 6 grandchildren.
No service by request.

I was an Officer Cadet at Royal Roads Military College from 1973-77 and had the privilege of knowing and being trained by WO Buxton. He taught us military drill and scared the pants off new recruits doing it. In one of my senior years I was CWTO (Cadet Wing Training Officer) and got to work alongside him. A memorable man.

I had the privilege of attending Royal Roads Military College during Dave's tenure as a Drill Instructor. He was an outstanding example to us of a senior NCO.

In my later years there I was able to have personal relationship with him, and appreciated that very much.

He was a good man and a credit to the Canadian Armed Forces.

Also please note that he served in Korea during that awful time.
